Last month Albanese pointed to a 2021 report by Indigenous academics Marcia Langton and Tom Calma, commissioned by the former Morrison government, saying it contained “280 pages of detail about how the Voice will operate”. But the Albanese government has not formally adopted this model as the one it will seek to legislate following the referendum.Burney has accused people “wanting Is dotted and Ts crossed” of having their own agenda, but promised ample information in the public domain before the referendum. However, she conceded that the exact model would be settled after the vote.

Voice to Parliament will add ‘another layer of bureaucracy’Opposition Leader Peter Dutton is “right” in asking for more specific details about the Indigenous Voice to Parliament, says Nationals Leader David Littleproud. Mr Dutton has delivered a list of demands asking Prime Minister Anthony Albanese to provide more detail on the Voice. “The government is saying and has said from the very beginning that they won’t be giving those details, they’ll only give us a broad consensus of what this would look like,” Mr Littleproud told Sky News Australia. “And it’s going to be a representative body that’s similar to that we’ve had in the past. “And that’s why the Nationals don’t believe this will close the gap, it will simply add another layer of bureaucracy that will slow down, particularly in regional, rural and remote areas where we represent.”
