There are new calls for PwC to be banned from government work amid new evidence in the scandal over breached confidentiality agreements.

Treasury sought legal advice about former PwC partner Peter Collins after he breached three confidentiality agreements, it can be revealed, amid calls for PwC to be banned from government work.

In other developments, Greens Senator Barbara Pocock has called for PwC Australia to be banned from working for the government and for the firm’s chief executive, Tom Seymour, to step down after internal emails revealed dozens of operatives used confidential government tax information to win client work.“Mr Collins signed three separate personal confidentiality agreements, in 2013, 2016 and 2018 respectively,” Treasury said in response to questions on notice by Greens Senator Nick McKim.

Senator Pocock said emails showed that the PwC operatives involved had “betray[ed] the Australian people for private gain”.“Whether it’s corruption, insider trading or odiously unethical – PwC should be banned from profiting from government contracts and the Tom Seymour should stand aside while an inquiry proceeds,” Senator Pocock said.
