Something has to give after the Toronto Maple Leafs returned home from an ugly road trip where they lost four of five games
Add it up and it’s not surprising that the Leafs are off to a 4-4-2 start. And while it’s not the end of the world, it’s also not indicative of a team that had entered the season as a top contender for the Stanley Cup.This is the one of easiest fixes that the Leafs can make. And the reason has less to do with Sheldon Keefe, who sounds like he’s lost the team, and more to do with who’s out there waiting for a phone call. Yes, we’re talking about Barry Trotz.
Justin Holl looks completely lost out there. Mark Giordano looks old and slow. And Rasmus Sandin looks like he’s going through the typical highs and lows of someone who has not yet played 100 games. Toronto needs a top-4 defenceman — maybe two of them. And the only way to get them is via a trade. That might mean packaging a roster player, such as Alex Kerfoot or Nick Robertson, to Arizona for Jakob Chychrun or to Anaheim for John Klingberg.
