However, the chair of the transportation committee warns it will be another three weeks to a month before the road is open to vehicles.
"They've got to paint; so now things are finally melting, we're going to get the street sweepers out, paint the lines out on the street, traffic lights are going back on. If the weather holds, the next three weeks to a month that is going to be open back up." On Wednesday, city of Ottawa staff were installing traffic signals on Wellington Street in front of Parliament Hill. This is one of the things that must be done before the traffic barriers are removed and the road is reopened to traffic.
The city removed the traffic signals on Wellington at Metcalfe and at O'Connor last year and replaced them with stop signals.
