Two new electrified variants of the Corolla Altis have been introduced, leaving only the non-hybrid E CVT trim in the lineup. The GR-S 1.8 G trim, which offered a hybrid powertrain, is now discontinued.
A few months ago, we reported on rumblings of a reshuffled lineup for the Toyota Corolla Altis that would see more electrified variants introduced, leaving just one purely gas option.
Now, those rumors are quietly coming to fruition. As caught by TheAuto PH, Toyota Motor Philippines has silently introduced two new variants of the Corolla Altis HEV, both of which sit below the range-topping GR-S. However, the introduction of the two new electrified variants for the Corolla Altis means the departure of the 1.8 G GR-S CVT trim.
In other words, the entry-level non-HEV E CVT is left as the single non-hybrid variant of the Corolla Altis available today. The E HEV is the more basic of the two new trims, coming equipped with halogen headlights and 16 inch alloy wheels. Not a surprise, given it shares its name with the base model. Moving up to the G HEV, which inherits the name of the outgoing G GR-S CVT trim, is where we start getting the creature comforts: power front seats, LED lights at the front and back, and a six-speaker sound system.
PHOTO BY Toyota Other shared equipment between the two trims include a full loadout of airbags, Toyota Safety Sense, and the all-important wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. For color options, Red Mica Metallic now appears to be a GR-S exclusive, with the three lower trims being available in White Pearl , Cement Gray Metallic, and Attitude Black Mica.
