KUCHING: The allegations of corruption against Immigration officers at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) can be resolved through the proper administrative process, says Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
The Deputy Prime Minister said he would hold discussions with Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail on the matter, as the Immigration Department is under the latter's purview.
Ahmad Zahid said he had also spoken to Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing, who had highlighted an incident involving a Chinese tourist at KLIA."A problem like this can be resolved in a good manner through our administrative system," Ahmad Zahid told reporters after chairing the Rural and Regional Development Ministry's coordination meeting with the Sarawak state government at Wisma Bapa Malaysia here on Monday .
Ahmad Zahid, who is also Rural and Regional Development Minister, also said the KLIA incident would be raised during the Cabinet meeting on Wednesday .‘Full probe into tourist incident’ On Friday , Tiong said he had to personally step in to help a Chinese woman tourist after she was allegedly held up by Immigration officers at KLIA.On Saturday , Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki said it would launch a probe into the allegations of corruption.
