The Ottawa Redblacks kept many starters home for a pre\u002Dseason game vs. Toronto, but there was pressure to perform with roster cuts coming.

“You know how much these guys have given and all the sweat they’ve put onto the field to get to this spot,” said Redblacks head coach Bob Dyce. “To tell them regrettably it’s not going to work isn’t an easy thing. There’s also the opposite side when you get to tell guys they are making it.

We’ve got some very, very, very tough decisions ahead.”Article content The Argos took a 7-0 lead less than three minutes into the game in Guelph, with AJ Ouellette scoring from 13 yards out. The Redblacks tied the game a bit more than three minutes later, with a 62-yard Tyrie Adams completion to Emmanuel Butler setting up an Adams run for a touchdown. An Argos field goal made it 10-7. Adams lofted the ball into Siaosi Mariner’s hands for a 57-yard touchdown down the sideline. Adams completed all four of his pass attempts for 139 yards in the first quarter.

A 36-yard Ward field goal on the final play of the first half gave Ottawa a 20-10 lead.

An 84-yard punt return by B.J. Bird made it 20-17. After a long pass interference call on Toronto, Crum found Keaton Bruggeling for a three-yard touchdown pass. A Toronto field goal made it 27-20. With 7 1/2 minutes left, Crum scored on a QB sneak. A long kickoff return by Mason Pierce set up an Argos field goal.
