It’s Canada’s first gold medal at the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships since 2017 and, on the men’s side, Crawford is only the third Canadian skier ever to win gold.and downhill in 2011 and John Kucera, now head coach of the Canadian men’s speed team, was downhill champion in 2009. Speaking about Crawford after the race, Kilde had this to say: “He is a guy that can be fast everywhere because he charges and he dares to risk.”
“Coming into this week, I started to feel a little bit more normal and today I was able to do it top to bottom. And it was a good feeling to have that confidence and trust back.”As Crawford put it: “Coming fifth or sixth doesn’t really do anything for you” at the world championships. If you don’t give it 100%, then there’s no point in really pushing out the start gate ... You’ve really got to put yourself on the line to want to win.

Anglo American to acquire 9.9% of Canada NickelDiversified miner Anglo American has agreed to acquire a 9.9% minority interest in Canada Nickel Company, which owns the Crawford nickel project in Ontario, Canada. Anglo will also provide technology expertise to the Crawford project and has the exclusive right to buy up to 10% of recoveries of nickel concentrate, iron and chromium contained in the magnetite concentrates and any corresponding carbon credits from the Crawford project. Anglo's equity funding will support Canada Nickel's work to complete the necessary permitting requirements to proceed with development of the project.
