The 13-second video was called insensitive, and appeared to show several players saying women ‘run the world’ because they can ‘procreate’
The Toronto Raptors have come under fire after posting a video meant to celebrate women, but in which several players appeared to say women “run the world” because they “procreate” and “birth everybody.”
The Toronto Star has not viewed the deleted post, but screen recordings of the original video show that it appears to begin with the words, “Beyoncé said girls run the world. Why do you think that’s true?” The original tweet from the Raptors’ account, in which the video was embedded, appeared to read: “Happy Women’s Empowerment Month! It’s important that we not only celebrate but empower Women both on and off the court.”
