Watch live: Toronto police to provide update on Weston Collegiate high school shooting
shooting at a high school on ThursdayInsp. Norm Proctor of Toronto police’s gun and gang task force will have the latest information on the Weston Collegiate Institute shooting that took place during lunchtime at the school near Jane Street and Lawrence Avenue West.
The news conference will be held at Toronto police headquarters at 40 College St. at 2:30 p.m. Friday and will be live-streamed on the service’s Youtube channel.just outside Weston Collegiate Institute around noon on Thursday. He then ran back inside with at least one gunshot wound in his upper chest.
Officials say the student, who has not been identified, was taken to hospital by emergency run in critical condition. Police earlier confirmed his injuries were life threatening. No suspects have been arrested. “It felt like a life-or-death situation,” Tahir, a 17-year-old Weston C.I. student, told the Star upon seeing the police presence as he was approaching the school after lunch with a friend.The shooting comes on the heels of several violent incidents at Toronto schools that continue to trouble administrators and youth workers, including
in Scarborough this past November. In that case, some dozen students were witness to the disturbing event that was captured on video.
