The agency says the freezing rain will last through the evening and overnight before becoming freezing drizzle or light snow by Friday morning.this evening in Toronto and ending around 4 a.m. Friday with ice accumulation anywhere from 1 to 3 millimetres.

People should be careful on icy and slippery roads, highways, walkways and parking lots. “Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions,” the statement read. Environment Canada issues freezing rain warnings when it rains while temperatures are below zero, often creating ice buildup on surfaces.

The temperature on Thursday during the day is steady at 2C. At night, the low is -6C, and wind chill is -12C overnight. Starting around 4 a.m. Friday, Accuweather is calling for a couple centimetres of snow that will taper off around 11 a.m. on Friday.
