PETALING JAYA: Top Umno leaders gathered for a retreat at Janda Baik as part of preparation for the upcoming state elections.
According to party sources, Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hassan, vice presidents and top party leaders were present at the retreat.It is understood that the retreat had discussed the party’s direction as well as strategies for the upcoming state polls.It is understood that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who is also the Pakatan Harapan chairman, had attended the retreat last night .
The Election Commission had announced that the six states would go to the polls on Aug 12, with nominations set for July 29, and early voting on Aug 8.
