New research has found none of the top three political parties will make a marked difference to the lives of women.
The Dullah Omar Institute says politicians have the tendency to over-promise on gender issues at election time. The findings show the EFF is faring better than the ANC and DA on gender issues in its election manifesto but whether the party can deliver on those promises remains to be seen.
The institute notes that this time around, the ANC's manifesto has taken a stronger line than previously on patriarchy and gender-based violence but there are anomalies.Komote mentioned the passing of the traditional court's bill infringes on women's rights because it places the power into the hands of traditional leaders.
