Those who drink more than six cups per day were more likely to develop depression, according to the study.The U.K. Biobank online study involved 152,821 people in Britain.The study says 81% of of those involved drank , and among those, 41% drank two to three cups daily, 28% had one cup, and the rest drank more than three.
“In this large prospective cohort study in the U.K., we found J-shaped associations between consumption and risk of incident depression and anxiety, with the lowest risk for both depression and anxiety at around 2–3 cups of per day,” the study said. Consuming two to three cups of instant a day can reduce depression, but not anxiety, the study said.
“Our findings support the recommendation that moderate consumption could be part of a healthy lifestyle to prevent and manage depression and anxiety in the general population,” the study says.
