An emergency warning was issued for the Alpha Road Fire at Tambaroora, about 270km north-west of Sydney, just before 6pm. Residents were told it was too late to leave with 48 homes under threat by the fire, which was started by a lighting strike."Fire has crossed Hill End Rd. If you are in the area of Alpha Rd, Hill End Rd, Ullamulla Rd & Tambaroora, seek shelter," NSW RFS said on Twitter.
"If you are in Sallys Flat leave now towards Bathurst. If you are N of Doughertys Junction, leave now towards Mudgee."The fire was sparked by a lighting strike. Earlier, an emergency warning was issued for the Cranbrook Fire at Dubbo, about 400km north-west of Sydney, and a "shelter now" warning at nearby Toongi."There is a bush fire in the Cranbrook area burning towards Obley Rd and Toongi. If you are in the area of Toongi, you are in danger. Seek shelter as the fire approaches.
