Melbourne City goalkeeper Tom Glover speaks to media after being attacked by a fan during a violent pitch invasion.“The Socceroos were on a high and we were kind of riding the wave of that,” Glover said.Preceding the pitch invasion, Glover threw one of the flares thrown onto the field back into the crowd of Melbourne Victory fans, infuriating the fans who then invaded the pitch.
Although Glover admitted his “intentions were never to throw it over the fence”, he will still be investigated by Football Australia and could face sanctions. “The moment that a flare entered the field is the moment that triggers the whole events,” FA chief executive officer James Johnson said. Police have released images of the men they want to question after the A-League pitch invasion in Melbourne.
