One of King’s biographers, R. MacGregor Dawson, described the undergraduate’s growing ability to network. “ King’s social graces were nevertheless highly developed, and he began as a student to show an uncanny talent for making contacts with people, and especially with people who mattered, a talent which was to become even more noticeable as he grew older,” Dawson wrote. “Many illustrations might be given.
