A presenter on the Today show has taken a brutal swipe at Daniel Andrews over a social media post from the Victorian Premier about women's sport after the Matilda's defeated Denmark.

Mr Andrews' post attracted hundreds of replies, with some comments also questioning the choice of caption used to go alongside the photo.

The Matildas clash with Denmark at Stadium Australia was attended by 75,784 people and set a new record for free-to-air ratings in Australia in 2023. Seven secured a massive 54.5 per cent network share with the pre-game and post-game coverage securing about one million metro viewers each while music program The Voice pulled about 789,000 metro viewers.

Mr Andrews on Tuesday commended the Matildas on the"fantastic win" as he also congratulated the Australian Diamonds on their Netball World Cup victory. last year, with a $15 million deal which saw Visit Victoria become a key sponsor.
