Ottawa Redblacks receiver Jaelon Acklin has a challenge for the Toronto Argonauts ahead of Saturday night’s game at TD Place.
“I’d love to go against Jamal, he’s one of the best corners,” said Acklin. “I want to see how good I am, I want to see how good he is. If Toronto wants to play man to man, I’d love it — it’d be a lot better TV for everyone. But if they’re going to play zone, we have to find a way to beat it.”Article content
Of course, whether or not Ottawa will have success on its home field Saturday — they’ve lost 20 of their past 21 games at TD Place — will depend on much more than what defensive schemes Toronto cooks up. The Redblacks will need to figure out a way to get early-game momentum, something that’s been significantly lacking.
A Toronto win combined with a Hamilton loss at Montréal would clinch a playoff spot for the Argos. If Ottawa wins, that would move them into the mix with all three rivals. The winner of Saturday’s game will capture the season series and gain the tiebreaker edge.
