Heavy storms and potential flash flooding will batter Sydney’s coast this week as a Sky News Meteorologist revealed what regions would be hit the worst.

Sydneysiders have been warned to brace for a grim and soggy week as looming thunderstorm activity and flood warnings erupt following a fast-forming weather system.

Mr Sharpe said the coastal trough would spur flash flooding as 100mm of rainfall in a 24-hour period was expected to thrash parts of Sydney from Sunday through to Monday. Sydney would experience up to 24.5mm of rainfall, 25mm in Newcastle and 19mm in Wollongong from Thursday to Monday as temperatures average low 20s across the regions.

La Nina, above average easterly winds and luck were all to thank for the cool run as Mr Sharpe reassured Sydneysiders that 30-degree weather would return next week.
