THUNDER BAY — Thunder Bay Police have identified the victim of what they describe as a targeted homicide, and have arrested his alleged killer.
24-year-old Michael Park of Toronto died in hospital Friday after a shooting incident on the city's south side.Police said they arrested him just after 1:00 p.m. Sunday in the vicinity of Brodie Street South and Arthur Street East. Meshake appeared in court Monday morning via video and was remanded into custody for a future court date.
Officers were initially dispatched to a weapons call after reports of gunfire in the May and Arthur Street area just before 4:00 p.m. on Oct. 7.The vicinity was cordoned off as police secured an apartment building in the 300 block of Brodie Street South. Park's death is the 12th homicide in Thunder Bay so far this year, which establishes a record high for the city.
