A Thunder Bay academic is being recognized with provincial honours for his work in the field of engineering.

The Gold Medal is the highest award given to engineers in Ontario. It acknowledges professional engineers in the province who have made outstanding contributions to their profession and their community. It recognizes conscientious commitment to public service, technical excellence and outstanding professional leadership.

Koziński is credited with developing the concept of a “humanist engineer,” a “creative maker and doer who empathizes, reflects, innovates and creates in an era of radical change.” Koziński previously was the founding dean of the Lassonde School of Engineering at York University in Toronto.
