Industry experts say couples are spending more on their weddings this year as large events return and many people opt to pay top dollar for the stress-free option.

Sunshine Coast wedding planner Kristy Aitken said the new year brought hope, as high demand returned to the struggling industry."Consensus is, through talking to a lot of suppliers and the venues in the hinterland, everyone's booking out — even into 2024." "At some point, couples just decided we're not booking a date; we're just leaving it open-ended," she said.Sunshine Coast couple Samara O'Neill and Sebastien Clerc got engaged in 2020 but were hesitant to make plans during the peak of the pandemic.
"It's becoming a lot easier to predict and actually plan stuff in advance because you haven't got the uncertainty of if you're going to be shut down, or if the world's going to shut down," Mr Clerc said.
