Three men were shot dead in Zamboanga City, Philippines, during a dawn attack. The incident occurred while the city was under increased security due to the nationwide gun ban in place for the upcoming election.

THREE people were killed in a dawn gun attack amid the deployment of additional security forces in Zamboanga City and implementation of the nationwide gun ban, the police said Friday, February 7, 2025.The Zamboanga City Police Office identified the fatalities as Troy Resurrecion, 24; Jovert Marcos, 40; and Anthony James Resurreccion, 21. They are all residents of Talon-Talon village.The ZCPO said the incident happened around 2:30 a.m.

The police said the victims were repeatedly shot at close range by an unidentified gunman clad in baseball cap, brown shirt, and denim pants, who alighted from the white vehicle. Two of the victims -- Resurreccion and Marcos -- died instantaneously, while Anthony James expired at the hospital while under treatment.Investigation further showed that prior to the incident, the victims had a heated altercation with unidentified male individuals at the parking lot of the drinking joint.
