A four-bedroom renovated Victorian in Thornbury sold under the hammer for $1.615 million after three bidders competed.In flood affected Maribynong, a four-bedroom apartment sold at auction for $1,011,000 above the $950,000 reserve.Roads were blocked and people were cleaning up in the aftermath of Melbourne’s floods, but the auction market continued on, with a four-bedroom house in Thornbury selling under the hammer for $2,615,000.

The auction was one of 635 scheduled on Saturday. By evening, Domain Group recorded a preliminary auction clearance rate of 64 per cent from 393 reported results, while 53 auctions were withdrawn. Withdrawn auctions are counted as unsold properties when calculating the clearance rate. RT Edgar Toorak director and auctioneer Warwick Anderson said the property had been an investment for the vendors and the new owners, a young couple, were also planning to rent out the home.
