Work has started on several new projects in Alexandria, Sydney’s highest-profile mixed-use area with industrial, residential and office spaces all playing a role.
Place and builder Hickory are pressing ahead with the speculative development of a $230 million office campus in Alexandria, a fast evolving mixed-used suburb south of Sydney’s CBD, without a tenant in place.Place partnered with Hickory to buy the 8000 square metre site for $52.5 million last year and – backed by property financier Qualitas – have started demolition and rehabilitation work.
Mr Papadopoulos said Alexandria – a mix of light industrial, residential, logistics and warehouses – is rapidly diversifying from its industrial roots and thatThe site on the corner of Bourke Road and Bowden Street, is close to Green Square, the centre of a residential building boom that has played out over the past 15 years.
But not all planned workspace projects are proceeding. It is understood an approved four-level office development at 132 McEvoy Street, Alexandria, has been put on hold by the developer, Stormac.Place building from technology and design companies that like the location and campus-style design.
