Allen Ye started running 4 years ago and recently ran the Big Sur International Marathon.
Name: Allen Ye Age: 28Hometown: New York, New YorkOccupation: Health ArchitectTime Running: 4 years Reason for Running: Running helps me think better, feel better, and is an integral part of my fitness routine. I played sports growing up, but running was always used as a form of punishment. I didn’t understand the people who “enjoyed” running or would willingly run. I also didn’t want anything to do with running because I was too scared to lose any of the muscle I worked so hard to put on.
I went from running ten to 20 miles a week inconsistently to 50-plus miles a week later that summer. Most recently, this past April, I ran my first marathon—the Big Sur International Marathon. I was doing well and on target for a 3:15 marathon until my entire body started cramping at the end of mile 22 and my split went from a 7:30 pace to a 15-minute pace. I remember getting to a 1.5-mile enclave and that was the longest 1.5 miles of my life.
