After three long years, hundreds of families filled College Street on Friday, with some even sitting on rooftops, drawn together by shared faith to commemorate what some describe as one of the most important events in Christian history.

After three long years, hundreds of families filled College Street, with some even sitting on rooftops, drawn together by shared faith to commemorate what some describe as one of the most important events in Christian history.

Men dressed as Christ, carrying a wooden cross and struggling to stay afoot, were pushed along by others dressed as Roman soldiers. Participants carried banners of biblical scriptures, while some played instruments and drums. For many the sight of a face etched with pain and suffering was a reminder of the sacrifices that Jesus had made for his followers.

Matt Napolitano secured himself a good spot to record a video. But his excitement was short-lived when realized the sun was shining right into his face, making it difficult to capture the moment. Napolitano said he appreciates that the story of Christ is being passed down, even after so many centuries given the events that took place in Roman times. He believes that reflecting on that time helps people be better Christians.
