David Parer and Liz Parer-Cook make award-winning natural history films that capture amazing footage of animals in the wild.
The Melbourne-based couple have been exploring some of Earth's wildest places since the late 1970s — from the Galapagos Islands to Norway, and from Australia's outback to Antarctica.David filming for their hit film on killer whales, Wolves of the Sea.
Liz and David met in Melbourne in 1977 through a shared love of diving and film-making, and both worked at the ABC's Natural History Unit. Liz recording a dugong hunter in PNG for her and David's film The Kiwai-Dugong Hunters of Daru, also narrated by David Attenborough.Liz says people are often "a bit surprised" about their husband-and-wife team, but for her it's not been a problem."We both love wild places, we love being out in the field, and we both like storytelling. So I think that's why it works.
The film featured ground-breaking scenes of killer whales in Norway bashing large shoals of herring with their tail to get their dinner.

Voice to Parliament will add ‘another layer of bureaucracy’Opposition Leader Peter Dutton is “right” in asking for more specific details about the Indigenous Voice to Parliament, says Nationals Leader David Littleproud. Mr Dutton has delivered a list of demands asking Prime Minister Anthony Albanese to provide more detail on the Voice. “The government is saying and has said from the very beginning that they won’t be giving those details, they’ll only give us a broad consensus of what this would look like,” Mr Littleproud told Sky News Australia. “And it’s going to be a representative body that’s similar to that we’ve had in the past. “And that’s why the Nationals don’t believe this will close the gap, it will simply add another layer of bureaucracy that will slow down, particularly in regional, rural and remote areas where we represent.”
