A cartoonist for The Chronicle Herald and other outlets in Canada and the U.S. wasn’t entirely surprised when Dilbert creator Scott Adams was fired from newspapers, including The Chronicle Herald, for what he was saying on his podcast.

HALIFAX, N.S. — As an editorial cartoonist, Michael de Adder says there’s been an evolution when it comes to what people find offensive. And because that line keeps moving, he’s had to adapt and reframe some of his work. But he says art and the artist are intrinsically linked, so he wasn’t entirely surprised when Dilbert creator Scott Adams was fired from newspapers, including the Chronicle Herald, for what he was saying on his podcast.

And he's saying that this is censorship. And it's not. There's a vast difference between what I do and what he does. Even though I'm under contract, I work directly with editors and the newspaper, drawing political stuff, he does not do political stuff. Or at least, very rarely does Dilbert tackle politics. And when he did, it was it was somewhat appalling. So, the surprise for me is why he wasn't canceled, like three years ago. Not that he got canceled now.
