Technology has taught me that no matter how far away I am, I can always stay connected with those I love. But thanks to technology, this communication doesn’t have to disappear entirely. I still chat with coworkers every day via Microsoft Teams. Friends are only a click away through social media. We even joked about playing correspondence chess, now horribly outdated by the multitude of chess websites that allow for spontaneous play.

Now, with the power of the internet, I’m longer forced to drift away. I can make new friends while keeping old ones. It also keeps me from closing myself off – a tendency I’ve struggled with since childhood.
