Thief who drugged women and stole from them faces deportation

Before he arrived in Montreal in 2017, Hamid Chekakri had been arrested in Hong Kong, China, Spain and Indonesia.

Hamid Chekakri is serving a sentence of six years and 11 months he received at the Montreal courthouse in 2018 after pleading guilty to five counts of breaking and entering to commit a theft and four counts of administering a powerful sedative to the victims.A citizen of Algeria who travelled the world to drug women and steal from them as they slept, including in Montreal and Ottawa, will be deported from Canada when he is released soon from a federal penitentiary.
