Richard Harris has left the film and television production and funding arm of Minderoo Foundation, following a string of other departures from Forrest’s businesses.

The surprise executive departures from Andrew “Twiggy” Forrest’s operations have extended to the film and television industry with the head of Minderoo Pictures leaving with little publicity.

Richard Harris, a former Screen Australia and South Australian Film Corporation executive, launched the production and funding arm of Andrew and Nicola Forrest’s philanthropic foundation Minderoo less than two years ago to team up with filmmakers to inspire social change. “They’re a very driven organisation all the way through,” he said. “But I really wanted to focus on things that meant I could be more of the master of my own business.”While Minderoo Pictures’ initial budget of $10 million made it a modest financial venture for the two billionaires - with its first projects focusing on such issues as ocean conservation, plastic pollution and Indigenous education - Harris is one of many executive departures from the group.
