The company plans to erect one of four MET towers there to help determine if the wind that occurs on the peninsula is enough to feed its proposed wind-energy project. Cornect said that, as part of the community’s water supply, it should be protected and the failure to do so lies with the provincial government.

The board is also questioning whether the company has the proper permits to conduct the work, and it wants to see them. “We’re so upset. We really are. It’s just not fair. What this company is coming in and doing to us, it’s just not fair,” she said.Hinks said as far as the group knows, the company doesn’t have any permits to be in the area of the water supply.Hinks said after going in to see the work that has been done and the condition of the water supply, the group is very concerned.

The company said the work did contribute to turbidity in the brook during periods of heavy precipitation and stormwater runoff.
