A WOMAN in Penang has defended her son who was made fun of for being a hawker, reported Sin Chew Daily.
Mother-of-three Evelyn Ong said her 24-year-old son had managed to put a down payment for a house through sheer hard work by running a burger stall and being frugal with money.
“If you do not study well when you are young, you will only be able to sell burgers when you grow up,” the man reportedly said. After they had closed their stall, Ong had a chat with her son to tell him that she was proud of him and to ignore nasty comments from other people.
