Preliminary flight paths for the tens of thousands of planes expected to fly into Sydney's second airport from 2026 have been released, with suburbs in the west to be impacted the most.

Western Sydney International Airport, which has cost about $5.3 billion, will be the first in New South Wales to operate with no curfew 24 hours a day and seven days a week.

The government has released preliminary flight paths for the second airport in Western Sydney, showing the impacts to residents. Pictured: Runway 05 night arrival and departures. It also allows locals to see how loud, measured in decibels, the sound will be when dozens of planes come into land or depart from one of two runways each day.

"If you're standing outside, it will impact your ability to have a conversation. So the noise will be that loud," she told Peter Stefanovic on Tuesday. "There are some complications during the day, we have an army base that has weapons, manufacturing and maintenance, and the Richmond Air Base. Infrastructure Minister Catherine King said information nights will be held in Western Sydney and the Blue Mountains to speak with residents.
