PETALING JAYA: The Star has lost another gem when its former photographer Ibrahim Mohtar passed away on Thursday (April 6). He was 55.
In 2004, he was transferred to the company’s headquarters here before leaving in January 2018.The Star’s photo editor Ng Kok Leong described Ibrahim as a friendly and very good worker.
"Ibrahim started at the Johor Baru bureau before transferring to Petaling Jaya and joined the team under my leadership. "He was a very good worker and friendly. He was also a highly skillful photographer as he had vast experience during his time at the Johor Baru office. "He had covered a vast range of assignments with the team in Petaling Jaya, from politics to crime and sports," he said.Ng said Ibrahim had just performed umrah last month and fell sick upon returning to Malaysia. However, the cause of his demise was unclear."He was a nice and cheerful person. He was also easy to work with on many assignments.
"It is sad to know that he had passed away," he said, adding that he had met Ibrahim occasionally in between assignments last year.
