Every time I’ve been at a gathering of three or more people, they have started talking about the birds at some pointI tweeted the above statement in 2021. The obsession with birds was one of the earliest things I noticed in Aotearoa, and it has remained a long-running theme. If you stand in one spot long enough in Wellington, at some point someone nearby will start talking about birds.
