Well, it seems the former One Direction singer has the backing of perhaps the most important person – the actor who originally voiced Eric in the 1989 movie.: ‘I think it’s great, the guy’s a rock star, actor, philanthropist, heartthrob.The 46-year-old, whose other work includes The Brady Bunch movie and various Spider-Man video games, also had high praise for Halle, whose casting as Ariel has sparked controversy due to her being African-American.
Hitting back at the racist backlash towards Halle, which has included the #NotMyAriel social media campaign, Christopher stated: ‘If somebody thinks that skin colour is an essential element to Ariel, then they don’t understand the power of myth and what the story’s really about.’
