DAVID JALA/CAPE BRETON POSTSYDNEY, N.S. – The meeting of the Future of the North-end resident group regarding the July gasoline spill at Imperial Oil at the bottom of George Street in Sydney for tonight has been postponed.
The group had originally scheduled another meeting with residents to discuss the events that happened at the facility on July 8, which caused the evacuation of several homes in the north end.Sydney residents want more info on major gasoline spill at Imperial Oil storage and distribution facility The intent behind this postponement is to avoid any redundancy from the last meeting held on Sept. 19 in Sydney, which included spokespeople from Imperial Oil.
In an email to the Cape Breton Post earlier this week, Grace Arsenault, spokesperson for The Future of the North-end residents’ group, said Imperial Oil officials have told the group that they’re “unwilling” to attend any meetings in the coming weeks as they “have no updates to provide.”It has been our privilege to have the trust and support of our East Coast communities for the last 200 years.
