The influential Australian group has shared the sunny title track to their upcoming seventh album, which is inspired by 'early Cruel Sea', says iconic frontman Tex Perkins.

Ideas for a new album began to swirl in 2023 when the band reconvened to celebrate the 30th anniversary of theOn their 2023 reunion tour, the band are energised, and the fans are beyond ready for their timeless songs. In that "it owed a bit to that surf-instrumental vibe", he said, "rather than where we ended up with things like Better Get A Lawyer, which is weird, grungy … with slide guitars."
While it was already an acclaimed live group at this point, it was when Perkins was added to the line-up that it reached mainstream success. Straight Into The Sun marks the return of The Cruel Sea's classic line-up of Perkins, drummer Jim Elliott, bassist Ken Gormly and guitarist Dan Rumour; with the addition of longtime collaborator, guitarist Matt Walker.
