While the many small areas that make up Canberra tend to be advantaged, "it doesn't mean there are no individuals in poverty", he says."But because there aren't many areas of concentrated disadvantage, those individuals can risk becoming invisible in statistics like SEIFA."One is Canberra's workforce, which has a very high share of university-educated employees. Canberra isn't quite so different from other cities if you only look at wealth.

The demolition of public housing towers in recent years has made disadvantage less statistically visible in Canberra.
