Sky News host Amanda Stoker says the crackdown on local civil liberties in Hong Kong continues to be “brutal”.
Ms Stoker examined the question that few have considered, which is whether Australians should be serving on Hong Kong’s Court of Final Appeal.
“The introduction of the National Security Law … means that Hong Kong cases on security and political matters are now dealt with in the Chinese legal fashion,” she said. She said it is her view that Australia should cease lending its “authority and legitimacy” to a system that is “perpetrating substantial injustice”.
“The continued participation of Australians in this court seems less justifiable now than it has ever been,” Ms Stoker said.
