Mountain rescuers say the bog 'very easily consumed almost all of the fence post'
A warning has been issued to fell runners and walkers about a 5ft deep 'puddle' after reports of 'people sinking up to their chest'.
One member, who is 6ft 2ins tall, demonstrated the depth of the 'hazard' by dropping a 5ft 6ins fence post into the water. The pictures were shared on the team's Facebook page.A spokesperson said: "Following a number of comments on our recent post reporting an injured fell runner, where the same "puddle" has caught out other walkers and runners, we revisited the scene of the accident to investigate.
"We can well believe the stories of people sinking up to their chest. Please take care on this path - especially if overtaking whilst running! One person commented on the post, saying: "Went thigh deep, twice, two places near to each other, not far from the dead sheep. Warned a few walkers on my way back to Anglezarke."
