We lost the second leg of the ASEAN Mitsubishi Electric Cup 2024 semifinals at the Rajamangala Stadium in Bangkok. The hosts were aggressive, committing fouls to disrupt our offense. The Japanese referee's questionable calls also played a role in their victory. An initial goal was clearly out, but he didn't verify it. If that goal had been awarded, the game's outcome might have been different.
Imagine the embarrassment if the Philippines had eliminated the two-time defending champion Thailand in front of their home crowd! A Thai player had promised to make the Philippines cry after their loss in Manila. Their victory was hard-fought, requiring 120 minutes plus to overcome us. We nearly won if Jarvey Gayoso had converted in extra time, and Amani Aguinaldo's rebound could have secured the victory. However, the Thais benefited from the referee's leniency, especially when a player entered the field during the game and received only a yellow card. The winning team's behavior was shockingly worse than any losing team I've witnessed. Thailand's actions were disgraceful. Thailand won, but they don't deserve to. On and off the field, their conduct was unacceptable. The disrespect and abrasive behavior from some members of the Thailand coaching staff afterwards were beyond the pale
