Deputy Minister of Communications Teo Nie Ching has revealed that a total of 1454 contents touching on issues of race, religion and royalty were removed from social media platforms between January and March this year. She added that the posts were removed after the social media operators collaborated with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission .

According to Bernama, Teo revealed that from the 1454 total, 727 contents were hate speech related to religion, 588 on racial issues and 139 regarding the royal institution. Furthermore, Facebook has the highest number of 3R-related content removed with 731, followed by TikTok with 705, X with 9, YouTube with 5 and Telegram with 4.

Worryingly, the Deputy Minister revealed that in the whole of last year, a total of 1633 3R-related contents were removed, showing a stark increase this year in just the first 3 months. She further said that some social media account owners are believed to be operating fake accounts or 'invisible hands' deliberately inciting anger and hatred by uploading 3R-related content and advised the public to be wise users and not be influenced by 3R issues manipulated by the parties involved.
