Miti is in talks with industry players in the automotive sector to review the NAP 2020 and ensure the policy remains relevant.
Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz said this is in line with the advancement of technology, where many new developments, especially regarding energy-efficient vehicles and electric vehicles , needed attention.
He said NAP, which was launched for the period of 2020 to 2030, is now nearing halfway through its implementation and there since been many new developments in the sector. “I do think that in any planning, especially long term that is 10 years, we need to be dynamic and open to implement the necessary changes,” he told reporters after launching the Proton Rahmah 2023 campaign yesterday.
He said Miti would hold discussions with the related agencies to review issues raised by the industry regarding new technology to not only remain relevant but also be the best. Under NAP 2020, the local automotive industry has been set to be developed as a regional automotive hub for EEV, including EV, with the characteristics of next-generation vehicles that function not only in terms of carbon emission reduction but also able to optimise energy usage. — Bernama
