A northeast Calgary house explosion has rocked a Marlborough community after leaving 10 injured Monday morning.
Full Screen is not supported on this browser version.Fire crews were at the scene within five minutes of the blast, Dongworth said, with firefighters at the responding Forest Heights Fire Station about 800 metres away able to feel the explosion.
“First thing I see is there’s a bunch of debris all over the street, all over cars, car windows are smashed. There’s this guy who was living in house, he was sitting on the other side of the street, and he was missing some skin on his legs, on his arms,” Quinn said. “They were burned, missing skin, it was messed up.” Puttick added the street smelled like gas following the blast.
“There was a guy helping people out of the basement, and I was helping them out of the debris. There wasn’t any home left, and the fire was growing . . . We got five people out of the front, they got five people out of the alley. I just hope there wasn’t more than 10 people in there.”
