Valentino Guseli has become the first Australian to win a World Cup series title in the snowboard big air event over the weekend.

But a fourth place from Guseli was enough to secure him the top spot in the standings to take home the coveted crystal globe – the trophy awarded to the highest ranked rider at the conclusion of the World Cup season. The big air World Cup tour has come to an end for the 2022/23 season, however Guseli will continue to compete on the slopestyle circuit ,as well as joining fellow Australian Scotty James in the half-pipe.

On the women’s side Olympic bronze medallist, Tess Coady, made her first world cup appearance for the season in Kreischberg, narrowly missing the final and finishing in ninth place.Coady, Guseli and James will meet again in Laax, Switzerland where the first slopestyle and second half-pipe competitions of the season will take place.
