A Queensland teenager has avoided a conviction after using his 4WD to terrorise wallabies on the Gold Coast last year. 7NEWS
Connor Berkrey, 18, was driving home from a Tinder date in September last year when he deliberately chased and terrorised wallabies around Worongary.Berkrey pleaded guilty to animal cruelty and driving without due care in Southport Magistrates Court on Thursday.
He told detectives that “he accidentally struck a wallaby” and then “reversed over it, to ensure it wasn’t suffering”.Connor Berkrey fronted court on Thursday charged with animal cruelty and driving without due care for mowing down wallabies .The teen committed the act “because he was in a big car and it was fun”, the court heard.“What you were thinking on this particular day just baffles me,” the magistrate said.He was also disqualified from driving for one month.
